Physician Enhancement Funding:           Short-term Courses and Fellowships

A key component of the BC Provincial Renal Agency (BCPRA) mandate is to support knowledge-development through research and teaching, as well as succession planning within the broader renal network.

One strategy to achieve this goal is the funding of administrative and/or research fellowships, primarily but not exclusively for physicians. Funding is also available for short-term administrative course work.

A fixed amount of dollars is allocated annually out of value-added funds from provincial renal contracts, to cover salary and tuition costs for selected individuals.

Administrative/Research Fellowships and Funding for Courses

Funding is available to successful applicants for the following purposes:
  • Short-term course work in administrative, quality improvement or leadership skill acquisition;
  • Research fellowships: project contracts for health outcomes-related research – either commissioned by, or of value to, the provincial renal community; and/or
  • Administrative fellowships with a 1-2-year degree program
