Independent Dialysis

Is it an option for you? Read more about the independent dialysis program – the only one of its kind in Canada.

Kidney disease is one of the fastest growing health concerns in BC, in part due to our aging population. An estimated one in 10 British Columbians has some degree of kidney disease, and many don’t even know it.

Once a person has severe kidney failure, he or she must receive dialysis to stay alive. However, if patients are diagnosed early, modify their behaviours and diets and take appropriate medications, they can often postpone or even avoid dialysis.

For more information on how you can take an active role in managing your kidney disease, check out sections on:

We’ve also included a section of links to other organizations that provide a variety of resources for patients and health professionals.
