BCPRA’s Formulary is a list of medications essential in the care and treatment of patients with kidney disease. It has been developed by the Pharmacy & Formulary Review Committee.

The Renal Formulary has been separated into a Dialysis Formulary and a formulary for kidney patients not on dialysis, depending on your condition. The medications listed on the Dialysis Formulary are for dialysis patients (and all pediatric patients). Kidney patients not on dialysis are covered only for those medications listed on the
Formulary for Kidney Patients Not on Dialysis. BCPRA has developed information sheets on different medications for use by patients, listed below.

Also, check out the Ask a Pharmacist page to find a pharmacist who specializes in kidney disease near you. BCPRA partners with a number of community pharmacies to dispense these renal medications.

The information provided on this website is designed to help you understand how the medications you are taking work, possible side effects and precautions. It is not a substitute for talking to your doctor or pharmacist.
