BC Children's Provincial Renal Program
The BC Children's Renal Program is a provincial program under PHSA covering all of BC for the treatment of acute and chronic kidney disease for patients 0-19 years of age. Identifying and supporting children at high risk of developing kidney disease is a priority for the BCPRA and pediatric care providers at BC Children’s Hospital and across the province.
The Division of Nephrology at BC Children’s Hospital provides full-service renal care to children, including:
- active renal failure
- end-stage renal disease
- dialysis
- transplant programs
The program also supports about 2000 ambulatory care clinic visits per year.
The team is multidisciplinary and successfully incorporates specialty dialysis nursing, ambulatory renal nursing care, transplant nursing care, as well as dietary, psychology, pharmacy, and social work.
